Donald Rodney Borden

โ€œI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.โ€

2 Timothy 4:7

Donald Rodney Borden, son of the late George Samuel and Esther Juanita (Johnson) Borden, quietly passed Wednesday, January 21, 2026, into the presence of the Lord after a long illness in Richmond, Virginia. Rodney was born on March 9, 1947, in Marion Station, Maryland. While most knew him as Donald, he was affectionately known as Rodney by his family and close friends.

Rodney attended Carter G. Woodson High School in Crisfield, Maryland, where he was a proud alumnus and served as a member of the basketball teamโ€™s administrative staff. For a short period, he attended Bowie State University in Bowie, Maryland. After college, he pursued several professional paths, including real estate, before settling in Baltimore, Maryland, where he began his 30-year career with Verizon as an Installation and Maintenance Technician, until his retirement.

Rodney enjoyed getting together with his brothers to play cards and watch football games. He liked staying current with world news, especially politics. He told fascinating stories and was known for his quick wit and humor. He loved laughter. You could always tell when Rodney was in a good mood by the way he hummed various tunes from things he enjoyed in life. Rodney also enjoyed taking his daughters, their friends, and his nieces and nephews to amusement parks. He loved being in nature and took long daily walks, often sitting to people-watch and sparking conversations with those around him. He was friendly, intelligent, kind, and most of all, a loving and devoted father.

Rodneyโ€™s memory will remain forever in the hearts of his loving daughters: Keesha Borden (Aaron) of Richmond, Virginia and Dondria Borden of Baltimore; his grandson, Toriano Andrews, Jr.; his brothers, Harold of Catonsville, Maryland, Eugene, Morris, and Norris of Marion Station, Maryland; a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

Rodney was preceded in death by his brothers, John Henry, George, Franklin, and Alfred, and his nephews, Eugene Jr. and Tyron McCready, Sr.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Handy United Methodist Church, 5630 Tulls Corner Road, Marion Station with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2-6 pm Friday, February 6, 2026, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

Interment will follow at The Borden Family Cemetery, Marion Station.
