
Robert “Rob Lo” Curtis McCready, Jr. of Crisfield departed this life Saturday, May 16, 2026. Born March 23, 1972, in Fairfield, CT to the late Deborah Borden and Robert McCready, Sr. and Eugene Borden, Sr.
Rob was raised in Marion Station, MD and attended Somerset County Public Schools. He and his brother Ty McCready were a force to be reckoned with on the basketball courts. They and their teammates took Crisfield to new heights at Cole Field House in 1990. He graduated from Crisfield High School in 1991 and then attended Catonsville Community College in Catonsville, MD.
Rob had various jobs throughout his career. He worked for a yard service company; a butcher shop, and lastly the job he loved, Somerset County Board of Education as a head custodian for 30 years where he earned the name “MR. ROB”, he loved all the children, Rob loved fishing and the racetrack.
Rob leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Marshalann McCready, one son, Christopher (Lavelle) Carrion; two daughters, Ashley McCready and LeTia McCready; one stepson, Johnny Taylor; three stepdaughters, Maegan Harris, Gabs Taylor, and Natalie Parks; 11 grandchildren; one brother, John Borden; five uncles, Nelson Evans, Garnet Coulbourne, Harold Borden, Morris Borden and Norris Borden; four aunts, Lynnette Thomas, Lavern Baker, Laurie Evans and Linda Evans; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; his SPECIAL friends, Eugene Sonny Smith, George Schoolfield “Skoob” and cousin, Dana Lucas.
In addition to Rob’s grandparents and mother, he was preceded in death two brothers, Tyron McCready and Eugene Borden, Jr.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, May 22, 2026, at Handy United Methodist Church, 5630 Tulls Corner Road, Marion Station, Maryland with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne. Interment will follow at the family cemetery in Marion Station, MD.

I was very stunned and saddened to learn that Rob had passed away. I worked with him at Washington High for many years.

I’ve shared a lot of memories with Rob at PAES. The mornings we would talk and share a laugh . He will be missed and truly he had a heart for people, willing to lend a helping hand whenever. My prayer for strength for the family and to cherish the memories.
