Janet M. Cole

Janet Marie Cole, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Crisfield, Maryland, departed this life on June 8, 2026, after many years of courageously battling complications stemming from COVID‑19. Born on January 15, 1966, she was the beloved daughter of the late Dorthelia Cole and Edward James Cole, Sr.

Janet was a force of nature fierce, independent, and full of fire. She spoke her truth boldly and lived with a spirit that could not be dimmed. Her presence lit up every room she entered; even on her hardest days, she carried herself with a brightness that made others feel at ease.

She devoted her life to caring for others, whether through her work in nursing homes or through the simple joys she loved—crochetingcrossword puzzles, and her favorite soap operas. Janet found comfort in life’s small pleasures and shared that comfort generously with those around her.

Above all, Janet was a devoted and selfless mother. She poured her entire heart into raising her son, Thomas White, Jr.  who was her greatest pride and joy. A steadfast, supportive sister to her siblings: Edward Cole, Jr., Wanda Cauley, Gregory Cole, Anthony Cole, Brenda Stevenson, and Michael Cole (LaVerne); she was also a loving and cherished auntie to D’Arian Stevenson, Derick Cole, Cher’Nasia Bowyer; great Niece, Janesha Stewart; great nephews, Legend Cole and Gabriel Cole; great niece, Janesha Stewart; a host of other relatives and friends.

Janet’s strength, honesty, and radiant spirit will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered by all who were blessed to know and love her. In Janet’s own words: “Be breezy, take it easy.”

A funeral service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Highway Holiness Church, 27127 Old State Road, Crisfield, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00-6:00 PM Friday, June 19, 2026, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home, 30639 Hampden Avenue, Princess Anne, MD.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Crisfield.

  1. My sincere condolences to the Cole Family!!
Janet was a fun and loving person. We basically grew up together and each time she seen me she’d call my whole name out loud and we’d laugh and joke. We cut up regardless of where we were lol. Nothing but fond memories and giggly smiles came from her!!
I pray that GOD gives each of you strength and comfort during this difficult time!
