George Thomas Rolley, 77, of Crisfield, MD passed away peacefully Monday, July 27, 2026. George was born in Maryland to the late Anna M. Rolley and George Thomas Reid on November 23, 1948.
George was educated in the Somerset Count Public School system, and graduated from the former Carter G, Woodson High School in 1968, where he excelled both academically and athletically as the school’s star basketball player. George earned a full basketball scholarship to attend a college in North Carolina, however unfortunately a knee injury he sustained while working ended his opportunity to pursue his dream.
George worked in the seafood industry for many years before becoming a Security Officer at Pathway Health Services in Baltimore, MD.
Following the amputation of his knee, he continued to demonstrate remarkable strength, determination and resilience. Despite the challenges he faced, George never allowed his circumstances to define him. He enjoyed life to the fullest and was a familiar friendly face around Crisfield; often seen riding through town on his scooter chair, greeting everyone with his warm spirit.
George leaves to cherish his precious memories with his high school sweetheart and lifelong love, Leah Brown; his devoted daughter, Tynesia “Starr” Brown whom he loved unconditionally and would have given his world; his stepson, Deon Brown, who he loved and considered as his own; his beloved niece, Nichelle Lucas ( Dana); his cherished grandchildren, Jazlyn VanWhy and Javon VanWhy; his special son-in-law, Antwain Whittington; his god daughters, Sonja and Sonia Hill and Theresa Marshall; his favorite cousin, Tyrane Lane; his lifelong friends, James Cane, Robert Lewis, LeRoy Whiittington, Lionel Stevenson, Donald Williams (Big Nick) and LaVerne Johnson; his devoted caregiver, Sakena Whittington; his play son, Ronald White; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory,
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death his maternal grandmother, Lola Beauchamp, his brother, Dwight Rolley, his aunt, Georgianna and his beloved niece, Vanessa Mae Rolley.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church, 4th Street and Broadway, Crisfield, MD with a viewing one-hour prior. Viewing and Visitation will be held 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2026, at the church.
