James Mathew Owen Sr., 49, of Princess Anne, Maryland, passed away on July 30, 2026. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 13, 1976, James spent the last 13 years making his home and building a life in Princess Anne.
A man of faith, James truly loved the Lord and carried a generous heart throughout his life. During his earlier years, he answered a call to serve his community as an EMT in Bridgeport, offering vital care and comfort to others. An avid lover of nature who affectionately called himself “nature boy,” James also had a deep passion for music and cooking for those he cared about.
James is survived by his beloved father, Leroy Owen; his two sons, James Matthew Owen Jr. and Jayden Owen, both of Charleston, South Carolina; his five remaining siblings; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Owen, and his brother, Marvin Owen.
Though we are heartbroken to see him go so soon, we take comfort in the good he did and the lives he touched, and we look forward to the day we will be reunited with him in the Lord.
