Mom Neil gained her wings Monday, October 12, 2026, at Tid-alHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury, MD. She was the
daughter of the late Howard Walters, Sr. and Nellie Mumford Walters.
Ms. Carey did domestic work for many families in the area. She loved to sing, dance, and praise the Lord. She praised the Lord every morning when she opened her eyes. She also enjoyed reading the Bible.
Mom Neil married the late Raymond P. Carey. Together they raised 16 children. She could always put a smile on your face.
She was the same everyday and had such a sweet spirit. Mom Neil enjoyed babysitting her great-nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Raymond, Jr. of Snow Hill, MD; one daughter, Cheryl Carey Harrell of Snow Hill; one grandson, Tyrone Carey of Snow Hill; sisters, Alice Martin of Camden, NJ, Betty Bishop of Snow Hill and Rose Samuels of Cherry Hill, NJ; sisters-in-laws, Barbara Waters and Rachel Wa-ters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Carey; a daughter, Anzil Carey; brothers Sherwood, Alfred, Edward, Robert, Howard, James, and Walter; sisters, Teola, Lola, Estelle, Lucille, and Ruth; a brother-in-law, Gary Samuels.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 107 S. Collins St., Snow Hill, MD with a viewing one-hour prior.
Interment will be at Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery (Old Section) in Snow Hill, MD.

Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. I’m truly going to miss this precious jewel. Aunt Nelda was so special , she had alot of love and laughter and a sweet spirit. I never thought on 10/9/2026 at 9:30 am..would be my last time visiting her, remembering her last words was,Psalm 23.
