Bernard Douglas Wigfall, 70, of Salisbury, Maryland departed this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at his residence.  Born April 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Hanson V. Wigfall, Jr. and Sureda White-Wigfall.

He attended the Public Schools of Somerset County.

Bernard was well liked by family and friends, he had a profound affect on people he came in contact with.  Bernard had this cute little smile about him, he was warm, loving, and had a caring spirit.  He loved children even though he did not have any of his own.

Bernard struggled with illness for many years, but he fought the good fight and finished the race, and kept the faith.  Bernard knew his time was nearing to leave his earthy tent; to be clothed with God’s heavenly tent.  He didn’t mind waiting on the Lord.  “God saw that the road was getting rough and the hills were  hard to climb”, He said come on home Bernie, you are resting in my bosom.  I imagine Bernard said, When I see Jesus, I’ll say Amen!   His favorite scripture was Psalm 23 and his favorite hymns were O’ Happy Day and Precious Lord Take My Hand.

Bernard is survived by: one brother, Sherwood Wigfall (Virginia); one sister, Faye Wigfall-Williams; and a host other relatives and friends.  In addition to his, parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Valerie Wigfall-Kellam.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Dames Quarter, Maryland with a viewing one hour prior.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
