William Elton “Billy” White, 71, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Crisfield departed this life on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his residence in Philadelphia.  Born July 12, 1945, he was the son of William E. Jones and the late Pecola T. White-Campbell.

“Billy” as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Carter G. Woodson High School in Crisfield.  He joined the United States Army after graduating and was honorably discharged after three years of service.  Billy was employed with National Reprographics, Inc. in Philadelphia for over 20 years.

Billy was a member of Chris J. Perry Lodge #965, He was the Commander of the Antler Guard Unit Magnificent Seven, also Vice President of the Social Club “The Crew”.

He had an eye for fashion and decorating for any occasion.  He loved decorating his home for Christmas.  It was like Christmas in WONDERLAND!!!  He was devoted to his family coming home every holiday when his health permitted. Billy just loved his family and friends with a passion.  He was respected and loved by everyone who knew him because he “Said what he meant” and “Meant what he said”.  Billy lived his life to the fullest and everything that he did brought joy to his life.

“Billy” is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Patricia “Penny” White; one son, Chris White; one daughter, Donyelle Cottingham; his father, William (Frankie) Jones; one goddaughter, Patrice Ward; three grandchildren, Brandon, Bria and Lennard; four brothers, Willis (Beverly), Michael, William (Deborah) and Ronnie; five sisters, Peggy (Josh), Sylvia (Joseph), Cynthia (Raymond), Deborah and Kim; one aunt, Frances Sterling; two stepsisters, Alva Campbell and Venita Jackson; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Dorena Briscoe; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ninnis (Charles) Chapman, Mrs. Alice (Wesley) Brown and Mrs. Amanda (late Michael) Spence; Billy’s lifelong friends; Ms. Violet Lee, Mr. James Cane, Mr. George F. Murray, Mr. Armstead Ward and Clarence Fontaine; several nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jane White; one brother, Reginald Jones and his stepfather, Herman Campbell.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Crisfield High School, with a viewing one hour prior.  Interment will be held 1:00 PM on Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock.

    Billy would have said, don’t start anything that you can not finish. But I might have forgotten a nane or two but the Lord placed it on my heart to share the group that he loved with you and your family. My brothers, forgive it I missed someone. I am 70 years old.

  2. To Penny and Chris, so very sorry for your loss. Billy was one of my adopted brothers. He will truly be missed. May God surround you with his living care during this time of sorrow.
