David Carter

David Tyrone Carter, Sr., 69, of Crisfield, Maryland was peacefully called onto glory Friday, February 2, 2018 while in the comfort of his home. Born in Edwardsville, Virginia on March 10, 1948 to the late Louis Henry and Flora Noel Carter.

He grew up as a child on the coast of Kent Narrows Maryland. He attended Kennard High School until his 8th grade year.

David was known for his love of the water.  He began a charter boat service doing fishing parties at the age of 12. He served in the United State Army from 1968 to 1970 and was stationed in Germany.

He worked as an Oyster Shucker for Metompkin Bay Seafood in Crisfield, until his health failed.

David lived life to the fullest, he couldn’t stay away from the water and continued his profession as a local lifetime waterman.

He met Patty in May of 1979 and they were married on October 21, 1987.

David was a straight forward and honest man who loved his wife and children.

His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife, Patty Carter; five sons, David Carter, Jr. (Sheila) of Georgia, Shawn David Carter (Laura) of Pennsylvania, Travis Shawn Carter (Andrea) of Meza, Arizona, Tommie Guidry (Felicia) of Georgia and Marlon Guidry (Christia) of Princess Anne; four daughters, Darlene Carter (Edward) of Gastonia, North Carolina, Angela Carter of Dover, Delaware, Tinika and Latarria Carter, both of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four brothers, Lewis Carter, Jr. (Mary) of Queenstown, Maryland, Dennis Carter (Sue) and Dean Carter (Sandy), all of Grasonville, Maryland and Anthony Carter (Linda) of Burlington, North Carolina; two sisters, Shirley Aytch of Grasonville and Veronica Whiting (James) of Crisfield and a host of nephews, nieces other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Carter.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Living Hope Ministries, 27331 Crisfield Marion Road in Crisfield.  Interment will be private.

  1. To the Carter Family I am so sorry for your loss, David was a special person set in his ways but so loveable and kind an awesome uncle to my son. I will treasure the memories.
