Charles Burcell Kenney was born on July 9,1957 to Annie Ulaine Johnson Kenney and the late Robert “Burris” Kenney in Crisfield, Maryland. He transitioned from this earthly life on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at home surrounded by loving family members.
“Charlie Bean” as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in the Somerset County Public School System. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted into the Marines. He also worked in the seafood industry and as a mechanic for many years. He loved fishing, crabbing and spending time with his family. You could often find him working on and selling grass cutters and bicycles. He gave away more than he sold! He was well known for making people smile with his witty saying, “I need my money, or back quiet” and every charge was $29.95.
He began studying with Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended congregation meetings regularly until his health quickly declined. Throughout his sickness he continued to praise Jehovah and witness to everyone he encountered. He found peace in learning about the hope of life in Paradise.
Charles Burcell Kenney leaves to cherish loving memories with his mother, Annie U. B. Johnson Kenney; his 12 siblings, Delois Braxton, Harold Stokley, Gwendolyn Kenney, Robert Kenney, Sprigena (Humphry) Maddox, Darlene Bowser, Utricia Hayes, Ellen Deshields, Nkhrumah Kenney, John Kenney Sr., Abraham Kenney, and Annette Kenney; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Burris” Kenney; two sisters, Vivian Johnson and Jaqueline “Jackie” Kenney; and two brothers, Stanley Oreon Johnson and Vernon Christopher Kenney.
A Wake and Visitation will be held 7:00 PM-9:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2026, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home, 30639 Hampden Avenue, Princess Anne, MD.
