Lorraine B. Cottman, 87, of Crisfield, answered the call from her Lord on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Lorraine was born on July 4, 1929 to the late Samuel and Ruth Bacon in the town of Crisfield, Maryland.
Lorraine attended the Somerset County Schools. She was a seafood worker for many years. She joined Shiloh United Methodist Church during her early years, and later on she gave her life to Christ. She became a communion steward, and served in this position as chairperson until her health began to fail. Lorraine loved her church and rarely missed a Sunday service. Even during her illness she faithfully sent her tithes every week.
On August 18, 1973, Lorraine married Joshua E. Cottman. They recently celebrated their 43rd anniversary. They were “inseparable”, and when you saw one, you definitely saw the other. Lorraine always had a pleasant smile when she greeted you, whether you were a stranger or a friend. She and Joshua loved to talk with people on the street, or wherever, about the Lord. She worked hard in the “vineyard”, and now she is receiving her reward.
She leaves to cherish sweet memories of her: a devoted husband, Joshua E. Cottman; three sons, Joseph L. Bacon (Fran) of Fort Worth, Texas, William T. Evans of Crisfield and Harry A. L. Evans of Boston, Massachusetts; two daughters, Mary Bacon-Bivens of Crisfield and Bernita Evans-Brown (Alonzo) of Salisbury; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a stepson, Joshua Cottman; a stepdaughter, Sheila Cottman; one brother, S. Upshur Bacon of Crisfield; four sisters, Anna Burrell of Philadelphia, PA, Regina Hill (John) of Crisfield, Patricia Cooper of Fairmount, Maryland and Janice Douglas (Sinclair, Sr.) of Crisfield; five sisters-in-law; one grand-son-in-law; one granddaughter-in-law and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a “special” play daughter, Rev. Doretha McDaniels.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Crisfield with a viewing one hour prior. A viewing will also be held 6 to 8 PM Friday at the church.
Interment will be at Mt. Peer Cemetery in Marion Station.

Let us Comfort one another and rejoice. For we shall not all sleep but we all shall be changed. Here there or in the air we shall meet again.
My heartfelt sympathy to my beloved family as you continue to mourn the loss of our sweet Lorraine. Mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Aunt Lorraine’s heart and home was always filled with love, laughter and an abiding Christian faith. Her physical presence will undoubtedly be missed, but her legacy will continue through all who were nurtured by her love.Thank you Aunt Lorraine for all of your love, support and prayers during some of my most difficult times. Rest well my sweet angel. You have truly earned your heavenly wings. Love to all, Tone
