Agnes Louise Armstrong

Agnes Louise “Lou” Armstrong was born on July 19, 1930, in Fairmount, MD. She was the daughter of the late Berline Maddox Cooper and the late George Brady Cooper.

Lou attended Somerset County Public Schools up until the age of 14. She began working immediately after. She was a Seafood worker for many years where she was a crab picker at Charles W. Howeth Crab house, affectionately known as “Billie C’s,” in Crisfield, MD., as well Harold Bozman’s Seafood until her retirement.

She became a member of the former Centennial United Methodist Church in Upper Fairmount at an early age and later became a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist church in Upper Hill, MD, after the merger of the two. While there, she would prepare many church meals including turkeys, her famous vegetable beef soup, and peas & dumplings. She loved listening to her favorite Gospel Artist, the late Bishop Rance Allen.

Her favorite hobbies include watching her Soap Operas daily and talking to her phone buddies Milky, Linda, and her niece Onetta.

She leaves to mourn three daughters, Patricia E. Cooper of Fairmount, Janice A. Douglas (Sinclair, Jr.) and Margie Lane both of Crisfield, MD; two granddaughters, Tanicia Y. King and Chanita Ballard (Irving) all of Fruitland, MD; two grandsons, Cornell L. Gray of Westover, MD and Montel D. Douglas of Crisfield; bonus grandchildren, Nykia (Joe), I’kea, Tiffanie, Asia, Sinclair III, and DeVante; great grandchildren, Montana Douglas, Wynter Ballard; 10 bonus great grands; a special nephew, Ronald Williams, Sr of Crisfield; a special niece, Onetta of Waldorf, MD; another niece, Mary Williams of Salisbury, MD; two great nephews, Ronald Williams, Jr. (Brandy) of Atlanta, GA and Joshua L. Williams of Salisbury; one goddaughter(Cousin),  Agnes L. Waters of Crisfield; devoted cousins, Milky Waters Brown of Crisfield and Patrick Boynton of Glen Burnie, MD; a special friend and bonus niece, Linda Byrd of Crisfield and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Armstrong in the 1950s, her brother, Roland H. Cooper in 1992, her sister, Berline (Snookey) Cooper in 2013 and her nephew, Lamont R. Williams in 2021.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church, 8242 Upper Hill Road, Westover (Upper Hill), MD with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will also be held 2:00 PM-6:00PM Friday, November 8, 2024, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD.

Interment will follow at Centennial Cemetery, Upper Fairmount, MD.

  1. We are so sorry for the loss of Mom Lu. She was a joy to talk to whenever I saw her. We will miss dropping off her soup & sandwich each month. God never makes mistakes so He opened his arms & has welcomed her home. We have you, Tanicia, Trish & Janice & the rest of the family in our thoughts & prayers. God bless!

  2. In celebration of Ms. Lou’s life, I extend my heartfelt prayers and sympathy. Ms. Lou was a shining example of what God can do for us. In spite of her trials and adversities, God kept her in perfect peace. Treasure all the good times and the strength gained from her very long tenure.

  4. So sorry for your loss. Losing a mother is so hard; but may you find comfort in knowing she is with the Lord. She was indeed a good and faithful servant and she has just gone on to receive her reward.
    I remember Miss Lou always had a wonderful smile when you met her. Praying God will comfort you in the days ahead and you find comfort in wonderful memories of your mother.
