Elder Helen Handy johnson

Elder Helen Handy Johnson, 92 of Princess Anne, Maryland made her Heavenly transition on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland. Born June 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Isaac J. and Blanch Selby Handy.

Helen received her high school diploma in Somerset County, Princess Anne, MD. She also received a Bachelor of Theology from Faith Deliverance Bible Institute in May 1986.

She attended Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle in Pocomoke, MD under leadership of Pastor Kathleen Moore, where she was Senior Elder Sunday School Superintendent, Secretary of Helping Hand, President of Compassion Team, President of Combine Choir, 12 Tribe Founder, Superintendent of Vacation Bible School, Trustee Board member and Pastor Greeter.

Helen is survived by one son, Richard K. Johnson of Salisbury, MD; three daughters, Carolin G. Boynton and Gloria L. Collins of Princess Anne, MD; and Helen Fontaine of Pocomoke, MD; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen, great grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren; one sister, Tyvolia Holden, one sister-in-law, Frances Niskey; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Johnson; one son-in-law, Obie Snead; two special friends Mary Wilson and Elder Mabel Finney; and a host of other family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Windfred Johnson; one daughter, Barbara Virginia Johnson Snead; one grandson Gary M. Johnson, Sr.; one sister Beatrice V. Johnson; and two brothers, James Handy, Sr., and Nelson Handy, Sr.; two great-great grandsons, Zion Frager and Jofiah Johnson.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Upper Hill, with a viewing one-hour prior.  A viewing will also be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2018 at Miracle Deliverance Tabernacle in Pocomoke.
