Patricia Jeannette Waters Titus was born on December 17, 1951 to the late Gentry H. Waters, Sr., and Geraldine V. Dickerson Waters in Salisbury, MD. On April 3, 2018 she slipped into a peaceful rest in the loving arms of Jesus.

Pat or Jeannette as she was affectionately known to her family members, friends and co-workers was a 1969 graduate of Somerset Junior Senior High School in Princess Anne, MD. She was a 1973 graduate of Bowie State College (University) where she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Anthropology.

On June 10, 1972, Patricia was united in Holy Matrimony to Benjamin (Ben) Hamilton Titus of Calvert County. Ben was called home to be with the Lord on July 14, 1995.

Patricia gave her life to Christ at an early age by becoming a member of Tindley’s Chapel Church. Upon the closure of Tindley’s, Patricia joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City, Maryland. While she attended various churches while living in Delaware, Patricia retained her membership and affiliation with her home church, Mt. Zion. At Mt. Zion she was an active participant in ministries and projects sponsored by the Christian Disciple Fellowship. Additionally, she would lend her decorating and hostess talents to fellowship functions sponsored by the United Methodist Women and the Tindley Committee.

Driven to always helping others, especially children, Patricia began her professional career in 1973 with the Title I Program in the Appoquinimink School District in Delaware. Following that she worked as a Child Counselor at Terry Children’s Psychiatric Center in New Castle, DE. From 1979 until her “second retirement” in January of 2018, Patricia was employed in various capacities with the State of Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Social Services including Social Worker/Case Manager Supervisor. Additionally, Patricia volunteered as a counselor for substance abuse patients and was a wedding planner.

Patricia loved to read and catch the latest movies. She was also an avid collector of teddy bears, books written by black authors, music and movies. Patricia’s favorite gospel song was “Touch The Hem of His Garment” by Sam Cooke.

She is survived by three brothers, Robert (Josephine), Anthony and Ronald Waters; two sisters, Novella Dunlap and Kadovia Waters; four nephews, Vaughn Waters (Gregg), Darrell, Alexander Waters (Lakeisha) and William Dunlap (Camille); one niece, Anita Hammond (Marcus). Also left to mourn are her mother-in-law, Eloise Titus, three brothers-in-law, John (Helen), Ronald (Joanie) and Larry (Natasha) Titus; and three sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Robert) Campbell, Phillis Claggett (John), and Elsie Waters. Also left to mourn are her special friend and companion, Edward “Dal” Harvey and her Spiritual Mother, Evangelist Mable Finney. Patricia also leaves to mourn several Godchildren, great nieces and nephews, several aunts and uncles and a host of cousins, relatives, friends and co-workers.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Gentry H. Waters, Jr.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 409 Oxford Street, Pocomoke City, Maryland with a viewing one-hour prior.  A viewing will also be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Simpson United Methodist Church, 907 Centerville Road, Wilmington, DE and additional viewing will be held 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, April 9, 2018 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Pocomoke City.  Interment will be at Tindley’s Chapel Cemetery in Pocomoke.

  2. My sincere condolences are extended to Pat’s entire family. Anthony, I was saddened to learn of her passing as she was such a lovely girl in high school and a friend to me during those years. May your hearts be lifted as the prayers go up for each of you.

    Just sending prayers and thoughts of comfort. Pat was always a dear, very compassionate and knowledgeable in the work we did. You could always get an encouraging word from her to help you when it seemed times were very difficult.
    Pat will be missed by so many, but her legacy of caring will forever remain.

  5. My heart felt condolences to the family of Ms. Pat, My heart aches, Ms. Pat will forever remain in my memory. I met Ms. Pat over 30 years ago and for as long as I can remember, Ms. Pat was a faithful friend and client and I was grateful to have her in my life. Taking care of Ms. Pats hair was a pleasure and I will miss those long soft curls. My family and I cherished her visits, and the long talks we shared we she arrived. Ms. Pat will remain in our hearts.

  7. Sending my condolences to the Pat Titus family. I pray that God comforts you doing this time. I met Ms. Titus when I first started working for the State of Delaware. Ms. Titus always had a pleasant smile, the best hugs and always had an encouraging word for me. Ms. Titus would go above and beyond the call of duty. Ms. Titus had a great impact on any individual she came in contact with. She will be truly miss.

  8. Pat and I started working for DSS on the same day in the same unit. I admired her so much. She was dedicated to our clients, very compassionate and extremely hard-working. I will miss her. I’m so sorry for your loss.
