Oscar Smith

Oscar SmithOscar Smith, 85 of Marion Station, Maryland departed this life Friday, October 18, 2019 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home in Pocomoke, Maryland. He was born September 4, 1934 in Easton, Maryland to the late Adolphus Hayman and the late Annie Smith.

Oscar grew up in St. Michaels, Maryland and attended the Talbot County School System. He later moved to Marion Station to live with his relatives, George and Pearl Coulbourne.

He met Alice Rolley and they were united in holy matrimony on August 6, 1961.

His employment history includes the seafood industry in Crisfield, Maryland; Perdue Farms in Salisbury, Maryland and finally the Somerset County Board of Education.

He is preceded in death by two sisters, Maggie Young and Mary Smith and three brothers, William, Charles and Benjamin Smith.

Oscar leaves to cherish fond memories with his devoted wife of 58 years, Alice Rolley Smith; one son, William Coulbourne; two daughters Lenora Schoolfield (Robert) and Denitra Smith; three grandchildren, LeShawn (Diana), William Schoolfield, and Christina Coulbourne; two great-grandchildren,  Ray and Rayna; one sister, Annie Fields; three sisters-in-law, Frances Wise, Charlotte Rolley, and Dorothy Rolley; and one brother-in-law, Sidney Hayward.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Marion Station, MD with a viewing one hour prior.  A public viewing will be held 2-6 PM Friday, October 25, 2019  at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne, MD.

Interment will be at the Church Cemetery.

  1. We all will miss Oscar and his joining the other residents for “Coffee Club” in the mornings. Thoughts and prayers go out to Ms. Alice and the family.

  2. If I’ve learned anything down through the years, it’s that nothing beautiful in this world is ever really lost.Those we cherish w ill always live on in memory. There’s a place inside the heart where love lives always and where nothing beautiful can ever be forgotten. He will truly be missed.
