Lillian M. Taylor

God gently called Lillian Mary Jones-Taylor, 86, to her eternal rest on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Maryland, with her daughter by her side. Lillian was born on July 7, 1933 to the late Theopolis S. Jones and Audrey L. Jones. Lillian was the second of three children.

Lillian was educated in the Somerset County School System.
She met and married Robert Taylor, from this union four children were born.

Lillian was quiet, humble person with a sweet, sweet spirit,
and an infectious smile, that would light up a room. She was loved and well known in the community. She enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. She was an excellent provider and worked hard to care for her children, sometimes working two jobs at once.

Lillian enjoyed cooking and exercised her culinary skills at Wicomico Hotel and English Grill, where she was a cook for many years. She was also employed at Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury for over thirty five years. She was heartbroken when the company closed. Lillian refused to sit home, so she gained employment at McDonald’s in Princess Anne, Maryland. This was a joy for her because she was a people person and never met a stranger.

She loved people, and like her father loved cats. She would start with one cat and end up with 21; because one cat would tell his buddies to go to Miss Lil’s, she will feed you! And the rest is history. One of our fondest memories of mommy is working in the kitchen at church, she was in the kitchen committee, It was such a joy for her to cook and watch people her food. It broke her heart when she could no longer work in the kitchen. She would always ask who is cooking and how are things going.

Lillian, fondly known as Miss Lil, Mom Lil, Mommy, Momma, Mom, Grandma, Sis, Sweetie Pie, Auntie, Cousin and Friend, leaves to cherish precious memories with four daughters, June L. Brumfield (Freeman) of Princess Anne, Manly E. Stevenson (Maurice) of Delmar, MD, Deborah M. Robinson (Luther) of Princess Anne and Robin Bailey of Princess Anne; one son, Robert L. Taylor (Valentine); 43 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; seven daughters and two sons (extended family); one sister, Ruth Ann Pitts of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt, Florence Holbrook of Mount Vernon; a special friend, Franklin Wilson, Sr. of Princess Anne; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousin and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Purnell Jones; two grandsons and one great granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Princess Anne, with a viewing two hours prior.
