Elder Isaac “Barry” Banks

Elder Isaac Barry Banks, 60, of White Plains, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Isaac was born on June 2, 1965, in Crisfield, Maryland, the son of Curtis Roland and the late Helen Waters Taylor.

Isaac attended Crisfield High School in Crisfield, Maryland, and later earned his diploma. He was a devoted husband, family man, and beloved friend. His greatest pride was being Jaylen’s father. To his family and friends of Crisfield and the Eastern Shore, he was known as “Barry” or “B.” To God, he was known as His child. Isaac was an entrepreneur who expanded his business into the prominent B&S Seafood, throughout communities of Charles County on the Western Shore of Maryland which he owned for over 25 years. He was a pillar of his community, known as “Crab Man,” “Ike,” “Isaac,” and “Barry,” but he will be remembered most for his words of wisdom, generosity, kindness, and his unwavering faith.

Isaac enjoyed selling seafood, talking with his customers, and meeting other business owners within the industry. He looked forward to starting his day with God before pursuing his destiny and opening his business, where he encountered many faces and shared countless conversations. He worked diligently and was determined to succeed and provide for his family. He would often say, “A man doesn’t work, a man doesn’t eat.” His work ethic and endurance were examples of his commitment to God and his family. Isaac enjoyed meeting people and had no shame about his past; he openly shared his testimony, prayed with many, and served as a mentor. He deeply loved his wife and cherished their unity, looking forward to being home just the two of them. He would often say, “It’s so peaceful here at home,” and ask, “What’s for dinner?” He enjoyed eating good food, traveling and exploring new recipes.

Isaac was a natural comedian, even when he wasn’t trying. His sense of humor attracted those around him. He enjoyed long talks with Elder Sandy and his cousin Bugg Lane about God and the people of God. He took worship seriously and was a no-nonsense person when it came to his faith. Isaac also enjoyed talking with his father, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, cousins and other family members and friends about God, family, sports, fishing, hunting, news and laughing so hard that he left a lasting impression on everyone. He enjoyed being outdoors and his hobbies included fishing and hunting. He appreciated having nice things, always buying the best fishing rods, hunting gear, dogs, and equipment. He was the best-dressed person in the woods. Isaac had a sharp sense of style and always looked distinguished when he dressed up. He took pride in his appearance and was always impeccably dressed for any occasion.

Isaac leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, his devoted and loving wife, Dawn Banks; his adored son, Jaylen Banks; and the children he lovingly embraced as his own Maurice, Dominque, Danisha and Marcus Gale. He was a proud and deeply loving grandfather to Skai, Aubrie, Joel, Jolan, Kobi, and Aliyah who brought him great joy.

He is survived by his father, Curtis O’Neal Roland (Josephine) of Mississippi; siblings Charlene Fields, Anthony Banks, Robin Banks (LaShawn), Audrey Banks, Eric Banks, Anitra Brownlee (Johnny), Rafael Roland (Tenita), Sheryl Hudson (Jessie), Carl Lee (Sandy), Shonda Mosley (Tavaris), Regina Maxwell (Terrence); two bonus brothers and sister Cornelius Lane (Glendora), James “Petey” Lane who proceeded him in death and Margie Lane; two aunts; Milkey Brown and Arney Faye Roland; two uncles, Jeffrey Waters Sr., (Janice) and Earnest Roland (Linda); godson, Leon Ward Jr.; two god brothers Michael Lebby and Melvin Batts, Elder Oswald Sandy his spiritual father in faith. In addition to his mother Helen and a sister Jeanie Irons who preceded him in death.

Isaac’s circle of love extends to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless close friends, customers, and community affiliations whose lives he touched.

A funeral service will be held 12 noon Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Crisfield High School and Academy, 210 North Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, Maryland with a viewing one-hour prior. A public viewing will be held 2:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday, May 1, 2026, at Anthony E. Ward, Jr. Funeral Home in Princess Anne.

Interment will follow at John Wesley U.M.C. Church Cemetery in Marion Station, Maryland.
