Stephen Vincent Miller, Sr., 68, of Delmar, MD formerly of Princess Anne, MD departed this life Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his residence. Born on October 22, 1957, he was the son of Sylvia Thomasine Pollitt and Rufus Miller. Stephen was one of six children.
Stephen was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. He lastly attended Martin Luther King High School in Philadelphia before entering Job Corps in Utah. After completing his training in Job Corps Steve returned to Philadelphia to reunite with his family.
Steve’s lifetime dream was to be a truck driver. Scotty taught him to shift gears and drive a truck at the age of 16. Steve went to trucking school and obtained his CDL license. He worked for Acme for about 10 years and was a member of the Local Teamsters Union. He retired from Acme in 2025. Prior to his retirement Steve drove for many different trucking companies as well as for private truck owners. He worked for CRST, Tidewater, John Hill, WWC, Smith Transport, Spirit Miller and many other trucking companies. Trucking was his life and his passion. The highway was his peaceful place and his freedom. Steve travelled through 47 states throughout the U.S. during his years of dedicated service. He enjoyed meeting new people, conversating with strangers and learning new things. He loved sharing stories of his adventures.
Steve also had a passion for music. He would cruise down the highway playing mixtapes along with his playlists of ballads, R&B, Soul, and other genres of music. Steve loved to sing along as he listened to his music. He had a good, strong singing voice and he could rap too. He was the singing trucker. Steve also worked as a DJ on weekends and throughout the week. He was quite established in Philly where he met a lot of influential people including John Whitehead. Steve was known as DJ Sugar bear.
Steve was very protective of his younger siblings, Rochelle, Kim and George who he helped raise. They looked up to him with respect as a father figure. He loved his son, Butter and daughter, Nyla. His job was to protect the nature of his family.
Steve’s third passion was cooking. He loved to cook, eat and share his fine cuisine with family and friends. He had an exquisite taste for Caribbean foods. He believed this was a good way to bring people together.
Steve married Sarine Reilly in 1987. They have one son, Stephen Vincent Miller, Jr. “Butter”. Steve later met Marsha R. Lawrence and fathered a daughter, Nyla Emoni Lawrence.
In 2015, Steve and Barbara reunited and rekindled an old friendship after 34 years.
